Tofu is
something I have suddenly grown fond of given the fact that it is low on Fat and
high on Protein :D It is a Soy product and very good for health. I wanted to
make a Chinese Tofu dish hence tried Hot & Spicy Tofu which turned out to
be very good. Once you assemble everything this dish hardly takes any time to
get ready, a very quick fix indeed.
Here is what
I used to make my Hot & Spicy Tofu
Tofu – 200 gms block – cut into 1’
slices like in the picture
Cooking Oil – 2 tbsp
Garlic Cloves – 3 – roughly chopped
Red Onion – 1 medium – thinly Sliced
Red Pepper – 1 medium – chopped
Green Bell Pepper – 1 – medium – chopped
Warm Water – 3 tbsps
Vinegar – 1.5 tbsp
Dark Soy Sauce – 1.5 tbsp
Corn Flour – 1 tsp
Brown Sugar – 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Here
is how you make Hot & Spicy Tofu
Heat the
Cooking Oil in a Pan
Add the
crushed Garlic and Red Onion Slices and fry for 2 minutes
Add the
Tofu slices and fry them till golden brown
Add the Red
Pepper slices and the Green Bell Pepper and toss them around for 2 minutes on
high
In a small
bowl add the Corn Flour to 1 tsp of normal water and mix, add the warm water,
Vinegar, Dark Soy Sauce, Brown Sugar and Salt to taste and mix
Add this
into the Pan and let it simmer for 3-4 minutes or till the sauce thickens or
you have the desired consistency in the Sauce, this is a dry preparation
Serve with
any Rice or Noodle Dish, I did with some Butter Garlic Rice with scrambled Eggs
